We adopted Gracie from Maxfund in February of 1997. We estimated her age at that time to be about 3 years. We could only base an age estimate on her behavior because her teeth were abnormally worn probably from chewing on metal objects. All we knew about Gracie was that she was deaf and was turned into the Adams County animal shelter and that the woman that turned her in was not nice to her at all. The Adams County shelter contacted Maxfund who agreed to take her. We had no experience with deaf dogs though we had owned a Dalmatian before. Gracie was much easier to work with than we would ever have imagined and quickly became a well behaved dog. We can always depend on Gracie to have good manners when meeting new dogs. She lives with two canine companions, Harley Knucklehead, a yellow lab, and Annie LePew, an Australian Cattle Dog.
